What is a psychological evaluation for immigration?

A psychological evaluation is a detailed report written by a licensed mental health professional that describes how your immigration situation affects your emotional and mental health. Your attorney may request an evaluation to help the court understand the hardship, trauma, or danger you and your family are facing.

Types of cases I support

I provide evaluations for a variety of immigration cases, including:

Extreme hardship waivers
VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) cases
U-visa cases
T-visa cases
Asylum and related protections

How the process works

Schedule a free 15-minute consultation

Referral from your attorney.

We begin after your attorney has determined that an evaluation will be helpful for your case.

Intake and interviews.

We meet for one or two 90-minute sessions (in person or via secure video) to talk about your history, current symptoms, and the impact of your situation on you and your family.

Optional questionnaires.

You may be asked to complete brief screening tools that help document symptoms like anxiety, depression, or PTSD.

Written report.

I write a thorough report that connects your experiences to psychological findings in clear, respectful language.

Review the report.

We will review the report together so that you understand completely.

Send to your Attorney.

With your consent, I send the report directly to your attorney and am available for clarification as needed.

As a Latina therapist, I understand how culture, family, faith, and migration stories shape our emotional lives. I conduct evaluations with sensitivity, respect, and care, especially when we are discussing painful or traumatic experiences.

Fees and logistics

Evaluations typically include 2–3 hours of clinical interviewing, test scoring if used, and 4–6 hours of report writing and consultation with your attorney.
The fee is $800
U-visa cases
Payment plans may be available.
Services available in English and Spanish.
